Nidge goes to Hollywood

Love/Hate star Tom Vaughan-Lawlor is among the cast of The Infiltrator, an upcoming film about an undercover US agent who embeds himself with Pablo Escobar's drugs cartel.

Shooting has begun in Florida, London and Paris, and the film should be in cinemas in 2016.
The Infiltrator charts an elaborate sting operation to reel in key players in a chain stretching all the way to Escobar. Their arrests would lead to the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, and shake the black economy to its core.
Meanwhile the sixth season of RTÉ's Love/Hate is currently in development for broadcast in 2016. But Vaughan-Lawlor confirmed last November that his character Nidge is definitely dead at the end of season five. "There’ll be no Bobby Ewing in the Shower moment," he told reporters.

A US remake of Love/Hate is also in development - set in Hawaii. Irish-American writer Dennis Lehane is penning the adaptation for Showtime.

Several of the Boston-based writer's novels - including Shutter Island, Gone, Baby Gone and Mystic River - have been adapted for cinema and he has written scripts for The Wire and Boardwalk Empire.
