Irish actor and writer Chris O'Dowd has begun filming the "re-envisioned" remake of Elmore Leonard's dark comedy thriller Get Shorty in Los Angeles. Production will also take place in Albuquerque through to May 2017.
O’Dowd and Ray Romano head the cast, with series regulars Sean Bridgers, Lidia Porto, Megan Stevenson, Goya Robles, Lucy Walters and Carolyn Dodd.
Miles Daly (O’Dowd) is a hitman from Nevada who tries to become a movie producer in Hollywood to leave his criminal past behind. Rick (Romano) is a washed-up producer of low-quality movies who becomes Miles's partner and guide through the maze of Hollywood.
The series is for the ePix television network. Besides O'Dowd's many TV roles from The IT Crowd to Moone Boy, his film credits include Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, The Program, Calvary, The Sapphires, Friends with Kids, Bridesmaids and Pirate Radio.
