'Deutschland 83' for Channel 4

Channel 4 is to show the brilliant Cold War thriller Deutschland 83 to launch "Walter Presents", its new video streaming brand showcasing foreign-language drama.

Deutschland 83 is the first German-language drama ever to air on US television, on Sundance TV. The fast-paced eight-part thriller will be screened on Channel 4 starting next January, and will go online via Channel 4's digital hub All 4.

Become a spy, save the world. No pressure then. It's 1983, the Cold War is heating up, and young East German Martin Rauch (Jonas Nay) is sent over the Wall to the West as an undercover spy for the Stasi.
Acting as an officer in the West German army, he must gather NATO secrets while trying to resist the strange pleasures of the West. Even a Walkman is like an object from another planet.
The series also has an outstanding soundtrack.

Walter Presents will eventually host more than 600 hours of foreign drama for box-set viewing on All 4, with an option to download episodes to watch on the go. A selection of the best series from Walter Presents will also be broadcast on Channel 4 and More 4.
