One of the next big Scandi noir series in the pipeline is the adaptation of Springfloden (Spring Tide), the debut novel of Cilla and Rolf Börjlind.
In the dead of night on a Swedish beach, a young boy hidden in the dunes watches in terror as three men bury a pregnant woman up to her neck in sand then leave her to drown. As she takes her last breath, she feels her baby kick. And her waters break.
Twenty-four years later, young police trainee Olivia Rönning is investigating cold cases and gets to re-examine the unsolved crime. The Börjlinds first made their names as a writing duo for their TV scripts on series including Wallander, Arne Dahl and Martin Beck - BBC 4 began showing Beck on Saturday.
Springfloden will be a 10-part series, with a cast including Kjell Bergqvist, Julia Ragnarsson, Helena Bergström and Johan Widerberg. Filming has begun and a release date is yet to be announced.
The Börjlinds have already planned two subsequent stories in the series: The Third Voice (Den tredje rösten) and Black Dawn (Svart gryning). The above trailer was for the book's release last year.
