Production has begun in Belfast on the BBC's new three-part revenge thriller Paula. It stars Denise Gough in the title role, with a cast including Tom Hughes and Owen McDonnell and a script by leading Irish playwright and director Conor McPherson.
Young chemistry teacher Paula becomes locked in a dance of mutual destruction with a good-looking but dangerous ducker and diver after a one-night stand.
Denise Gough is this year's winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress for her role as a recovering addict in People, Places and Things.
This is Conor McPherson's first original work for television. His TV credits include an episode of the adaptation of Benjamin Black's Quirke, and the forthcoming adaptation of Artemis Fowl, which will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.
